Steady capital inflows boosted the baht's value to a 26-month high at Bt31.21 relative to the US dollar this Wednesday.
Even though the baht's appreciation is in line with other regional currencies, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva plans to meet with his economic ministers this Thursday to discuss ways to curb the rising baht.
However, the Bank of Thailand is not too concerned over the baht's appreciation, but is ready to intervene to curb any excessive volatility, Governor Tarisa Watanagase said.
