6 policemen implicated in corruption charges

Six senior policemen have been implicated in the corruption involving the procurement of Tiger patrol motorcycle, chief investigator Pol General Phanuphong Singhara na Ayutthaya said yesterday.
The six unnamed officers hold the ranks from police lieutenant general to police colonel, and some of them were members of a Royal Thai Police procurement committee which scrutinised and finalised the bidding process to purchase a large number of Tiger motorcycles at Bt1.14 billion, he said.
Once found guilty by the RTP, the six officers will be prosecuted by the National Anti-Corruption Commission, on the charges of malfeasance and deliberate non-collection of tariff duties, both of which carried a maximum combined penalty of life imprisonment.
