Changes at the top for Siam hotels


Siam Hotels & Resorts yesterday announced the appointments of new general managers of Siam City Hotel in Bangkok and Siam Bayview Hotel in Pattaya.

Hans Spoerri, with 30 years of sen¬ior management experience in the hospitality industry and a track record in hotels and resorts domestically and abroad, is named the fivestar property's general manager.

Spoerri previously spent 14 years with the Siam Group, first individually managing the Siam Bayshore Resort & Spa and Siam Bayview Hotel in Pattaya, and later taking on the responsibility of group general manager and vice president of marketing. He now returns to take the helm of the group's flagship Bangkok property.

"We are delighted to have in Khun Hans such a dedicated leader who knows the Siam City Hotel and the team so well," said Kamala Sukosol, president of the company. "He demonstrated outstanding leadership during his previous tenure and has always substantially contributed to furthering the Siam brand around the globe. We look forward to another seamless and successful collaboration."

To ensure that the Siam City Hotel maintains its market leadership and competitive advantage in Thailand and abroad, Spoerri will liaise close¬ly with all departments, especially sales and marketing. To start things off, he will utilise his market knowledge and industry credentials at the Thailand Travel Mart (TTM) 2010, focusing on trade and business talks among operators and participants.

Meanwhile, Siam Bayview welcomed Nijjaporn Marprasert as the new general manager. Previously, he worked for The Passage Samui. He brought with him his experience since 1987, during which time he has worked as general manager, business development executive and resident manager in some of the finest luxury hotels and resorts in Thailand, including the Royal Cliff Beach Resort and Ocean Marina Hotel, Pattaya; Dusit Island Resort, Chiang Rai; Park Suanplu Executive Residence and Royal Princess Larn Luang, Bangkok; Muang Kulaypan Hotel, Samui; and Phulin Resort, Phuket.
