Dell launches the Connected Classroom solution in Thailand . Combining innovative technology, products, services, software and training, the Dell Connected Classroom makes learning in the digital age a reality. Providing teachers with the tools needed to equip students with the 21st century skills they need to be competitive in the global economy, the Connected Classroom is Dell's education technology blueprint mainly for primary and middle schools learning environment. This is another important milestone and commitment Dell has made towards Thailand's education needs following the launch of Latitude 2100 and 2110, Dell's education netbook, last year and earlier this year.

"Growing up in the digital age, our children have the opportunity for greater access to technology and information than any previous generation. They have the whole world at their fingertips; a world they can interact with remotely, not just in words, but in moving pictures and sounds.  Educators today must prepare this "Connected Generation" with 21st century skills and to work in an ever-changing digital world. Today's education experts have a clear vision on how technology can transform learning. The Dell Connected Classroom solution is a practical blueprint for educators to achieve that vision," said Harjeet Singh Rekhi, Regional Director of Solutions Sales & Strategy, Dell Asia Pacific & Japan.

The idea behind the Dell Connected Classroom is simple: through our ability to stimulate learning on multiple levels, technology can enhance the classroom experience for both teachers and students. And if we can inspire students to utilize technology to learn inside the classroom, we might be able to inspire them to use it for learning throughout their lives.

The key components of the Dell's Connected Classroom solution include: the Latitude 2100 netbook designed for students, the Latitude XT tablet for teachers, interactive whiteboards, classroom management software and video conferencing for greater interactive learning, mobile carts for ease of management, and professional services for ease of design, deployment and support.

• The Latitude 2100, is the first netbook to feature an optional touchscreen for enhanced student interaction, assessment, and for special education needs.  The Latitude E-Family notebooks are built for the most robust applications, giving students' versatility for more intense projects and collaboration. Ideal for teachers, the Latitude XT2 Tablet is an ultra-portable, high-performance device. With a multi-touch screen and pen, it allows for greater teacher-student interaction.

• Interactive whiteboards, projectors, and audio systems help teachers differentiate instruction for multiple learning styles, individualize lessons for each student's needs, and encourage students to collaborate and communicate their ideas through technology.

• Student response systems designed to help engage and actively assess student performance, encourage participation and tracking of student progress.

• Dell offers professional services (consulting, implementation and maintenance) to help schools plan and implement the connected classroom.

"We are listening to educators, policy makers, and IT leaders who tell us an entire learning ecosystem is needed in which students, teachers, and parents are connected to each other, to shared information, and ultimately, to the shared knowledge of the world.

In a recent survey  we conducted in China, nearly 80% of the teachers believe that personalized learning via the Internet is the future of education. A "one to one" interactive teaching model is very important and will not only change the way they teach, but enhance a student's learning experience.

Dell focuses on the needs of all stakeholders in the learning ecosystem and design end-to-end technology solutions that help make the learning ecosystem a reality. With the launch of the Connected Classroom, we deliver a practical blueprint that not only includes IT infrastructure and the software and services that support it, but also rich content, professional learning, and anytime, anywhere access to a wealth of information." added by Anothai Wettayakorn, Managing Director for Dell Corporation (Thailand)..

By integrating technology into the learning process, educators can give students the means to learn at their own pace, interact with each other, and provide them with a window to the world of knowledge in and beyond the classroom. Educators can use technology to accommodate multiple learning styles, individualize lessons to fit specific needs of each student, and regularly assess student progress. Dell education solutions also give administrators the powerful tools they need to prepare educators for 21st century teaching, involve parents and the community in the education transformation, and to successfully integrate technology into every aspect of the learning environment. Parents can also access tools that enable communication with teachers, frequent monitor student performance, and get involved in class projects. And technologists can do more with less, deliver the right technology at the right time, and manage infrastructure and day-to-day support more efficiently.

Dell collaborated with hundreds of students, teachers, parents and administrators to create an education netbook -the Latitude 2100, which would focus the attention on what's important - learning.

Specifically, the Dell Latitude 2100 includes:

• First netbook with a rubber casing to absorb the bumps of being thrown into a locker and backpack

• First netbook to come with the option of a touchscreen -a perfect choice for enhanced student interaction, assessment, and for special education teaching

• A Network Activity Light helps teachers monitor network activity and identify the students who might be "cyber day dreaming" or "cyber chatting" instead of focusing on the task at hand

• Available in a choice attractive colors students will love ─ Chalkboard Black, Blue Ribbon and Schoolhouse Red, School Bus Gold and Ball Field Green

• Customizable window on the back of the battery pack where the school logo or the student's name can be displayed easily

• Management features of the Latitude-family allow IT administrators to lower overall ownership cost and speed up deployment.

Dell Latitude 2110: Building on the success of the 2100 at high schools and elementary schools, Dell now offers the 2110 to customers to help solve a growing need for an affordable secondary computer for training workstations or desktop users.  The Latitude 2110, starting at Baht21,000, allows easy collaboration, quick connectivity and versatility while at the office or on the road.

Enhanced features of new Latitude netbook include:

• Battery life up to 10 hours;

• Collaboration tools, including advanced audio, state-of-the-art microphone and optional webcam; and

• Anywhere connectivity¹ options such as WiFi, mobile broadband³ and WiMax support.
