Abhisit, Hun Sen to meet in New York

Leaders of Thailand and Cambodia will have a four-eye in New York when they attend the second Asean-US Leader Meeting later this month.

Informed sources here confirmed that apart from New York, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen have three opportunities to meet and have dialogue to strengthen their bilateral relations.

Both Thai and Cambodian sources, which asked to be identified because of the sensitivity of the issues, pointed out that after the New York meeting, they are scheduled to have another one in Brussels during 5-6 October when they attend the 8th Asia Europe Meeting.

Two other summits include the 17th Asean Summit in Hanoi on 27-29 October and the fourth Ayawaddy-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation (ACMEC) summit 16-17 in November in Cambodia.

The sources said that both sides are upbeat towards the improvement following the restorations of ambassadors recently. There have been several high-level senior officials visit between the two capitals.
