By a Royal command issued yesterday, the new military line-up - comprising 550 generals rallying behind incoming Army chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha - will assume office on October 1.
Yuthasilp, commander of the Army's Air Defence Command, outpaced lead contender and Third Army Region commander Lt-General Thanongsak Apirakyothin.
Thanongsak and First Army Region commander Lt-General Kanit Sapitak, seen as his rival contender, will both become special advisers to the Army, a stop-gap assignment to vie for plum jobs next year.
The Army under Prayuth's leadership will see General Thirawat Boonyapradab as deputy Army chief and General Dapong Rattanasuwan as the Army chief of staff.
General Wit Thephasadin is the Army chief adviser. Joining Yuthasilp in the position of assistant Army chief is Lt-General Pichet Wisaijorn from the Fourth Army Region.
All four regions of the Army will see top commanders elevated and appointed. Maj-General Udomdet Sitabutr will lead the First Army Region and Lt-General Thawatchai Samutsakhon is to become commander of the Second Army Region.
For the Third Army Region, Lt-General Wanthip Wongwai is the new commanding general and Lt-General Udomchai Thamsarorat is to lead the Fourth Army Region.
In the Defence Ministry, General Kittipong Ketkowit is the incoming permanent secretary for Defence.
Key appointments in the Supreme Command headquarters include General Thanasak Pratimaprakorn in the position of Joint Chief of staff and General Pirun Paewpolsong as his deputy.
In the Navy, Admiral Thakerngsak Wangkaew will become the chief of staff. In the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Dilok Songkalayanamitr is to become deputy commander-in-chief.
