Thaksin: I quit out of annoyance

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra said Thursday that he has quit his advisory posts for the Cambodian government and Cambodian prime minister out of annoyance.

In an interview with Thai Rath, Thaksin said he quit the two posts because "it's annoying. People always accused me of this and that."

"In order not to be annoyed any more, I asked Hun Sen if I should quit."

Asked whether Thasksin would accept the posts again if the Cambodia government wanted to reappoint him, Thaksin replied: "No more. Let me do something else."

"I really had no time for Cambodia. It was like I got a position but couldn't do anything for them."

Thaksin also denied that his pictures taken with Nelson Mandela were faked.

"I can guarantee they were taken last Friday around 2 pm," Thasksin said.

Asked why he has stopped posting messages on his Twitter page, Thaksin said "I want reconciliation to happen."

Asked to comment on Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya asking Montenegro to arrest him, Thaksin said: "That guy was just ceremonially welcomed. After a few words, people ran run away from him."

Thaksin said he has now been travelling around all  the time and has been doing diamond mine in Africa.

Thaksin said he had to enter diamond mine business because "they robbed me of half of my wealth, so I had to do it to feed my kids"

Thaksin admitted that he wanted to come home "but that's not as important as country becoming peaceful and people reconcile".

He also denied that he has fallen serious ill.

"People lied about me all the time. If you believe those lies, you have to ask yourself if there's something wrong with you," Thaksin replied when asked to comment on speculations that he had become seriously ill.
