PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT

Developers may face blacklisting

The government considers blacklisting property companies, which show no financial credibility or face consumers' complaints, said PM's Office Minister Ongart Klampaiboon.

After a meeting with the private sector and related agencies dealing with complaints, he said these companies could be exposed on the website of the Consumer Protection Board. Meanwhile, the government may also ask financial institutions not to lend to the developers.

He noted that this should reduce the number of complaints, mostly involving the failure to complete the construction within schedules and loss of downpayments.
