Medical conditions of a 24-year-old security guard Jetsada Chankrajang, who has severe injuries caused by the grenade attack at Soi Rang Nam on Thursday night, has been satisfactory improve after underwent brain surgery yesterday.
"Patient remained conscious after the surgery. Now he could remember his name and respond very well when doctor ask him," Department of Medical Service's director general Dr Rawat Wisarutwej said after he visited Jetsada who has been in the ICU of Rajavithi Hospital.
"He must stay at the hospital for a while to observe any complication," he added.
Jetsada was admitted at the hospital on Thursdays night at 11.30 pm after he was seriously injured by the grenade attack near the King Power complex at Soi Rang Nam.
He was in severe condition with serious head injuries as the shrapnel was embedded in his right brain side behind forehead. He had been conscious when he was admitted to the hospital.
His condition had been worsened as doctor found the cerebral hemorrhage in this brain at 5.00 am on Friday's morning.
He had underwent brain surgery to remove the blood clot from his brain which sized 4 centimeters and affected his brain function.
After underwent brain surgery for three hours, Rawat said Jetsada's legs and arms could move very well. That means he would not have problem with motor condition.
Rawat added that the shrapnel also was embedded inside his knee but his condition was not seriously. Rawat if the shrapnel move into his knee join, he will need other operation to remove the shrapnel from his knee.
However, Rawat added that the medical condition of a scanvenger who previously was serious injured by the grenade attack at Soi Rang Nam on July 29, now has been fully improved. He is now being treated by physical therapy and expect to go home soon.
