The Central General Hospital expects to help the 274kilogram woman, who was winched out of her flat on Thursday, to lose at least 50kg over the next six months.
Amnuayporn Thongprapai, 40, was unable to get out of her flat for three years.
Hospital chief, Dr Pichaya Nakwatchara, said the patient was diagnosed with diabetes, obstructive sleep apnea, lymphedema, and skin diseases. "She will be put on a diet and given some medication," he said.
Meanwhile, Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya has offered to cover the medical expenses for Attapon Daengkhamkhun, who weighs more than 350 kg.
Relevant officials yesterday helped him out of his home in Nakhon Si Thammarat, and as of press time, he was on his way to Bangkokbased Chulalongkorn Hospital.
Attapon suffers from thyroid disorder, thalassemia and respiratory problems.
