Software firms to represent Thailand in regional contest
The winners of the 2010 Thailand ICT Awards (Ticta 2010) were announced on Monday.
Out of 17 award categories, only 16 awards were made. The judges were unable to name a winner in the "e-Inclusion and e-Community" category.
Among the winners, local search-engine specialist ThaiQuest took two awards. The company, regularly appearing in Ticta line-ups in recent years, took away this year's awards in categories for e-government and service applications and research and development applications.
The 15 winners named on Monday will represent Thailand in the Asia-Pacific ICT Awards 2010, to be held in Malaysia in October.
Ticta is a national software competition jointly organised by the Information and Communications Technology Ministry and the Association of Thai ICT Industry.
The competition aims to inspire Thai software firms to improve their product quality. The winning software products are promoted in the Asia-Pacific region through their participation in the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (Apicta) Awards contest.
The winners announced this week will receive prize money, support for their participation in the Apicta Awards competition and a place in the marketing activities of the Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA).
