Thailand’s young performers show off the nation’s art and culture at World Expo Shanghai
Vietrio, which features the three Srinarong siblings " “Pae” Thaweewet, “Pan” Uthaisri and “Pui” Pintusorn " are putting on a 14minute medley of traditional Thai music from all four regions of the country while performers and dancers in attractively decorated costumes swirl and twirl around them.
“We’re really proud to be communicating our priceless culture as people from all over the world visit our Thai pavilion,” says Pae.
“Our show includes a song by Phi Bird [superstar Thongchai McIntyre]. We would like to invite all Thai people to celebrate national day,” he adds.
GolfMike " brothers Pitchaya and Pirach Nithipaisalkul " will surprise expo goers with a blend of Thai and Chinese music, representing the strong relationship between the two countries.
Chin meanwhile, has been practising speaking Chinese and performing the Thai masked drama known as khon at Patravadi Theatre Bangkok and will perform it with rap music. He represents the internationallooking new generation, the youngsters who are preserving Thainess.
“I think it’s suitable for the World Expo,” says Chin, who’s a mixture of Thai and French. “Obviously, I’ve not been able to learn khon performance seriously in such a short time but I have grasped how to move my body. I’ll be apply those movements to my danceable songs. Right now, I’m spending most of my time rehearsing.”
More than 100 artists, performers and dancers are taking part in the show, which is expected to be amazing " just like Thailand.
As host of the Thailand Pavilion, the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has every confidence that the spectacle will impress Thai, Chinese and other visitors.
The Thailand Pavilion has been voted by Chinese visitors as among the seven “Top Hit” pavilions and has attracted more than four million spectators to date.
World Expo, which runs for six months, continues through October.
