Altogether 29 high performance exporters today receive 35 Prime Minister Export Awards, a reward that is a pride for private enterprises, which have mainly supported export expansion.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will preside over the PM Award ceremony at Government House.
The winners were selected from hundreds of qualified exporters and manufacturers that excel in diverse fields of expertise in five categories - Best Exporter, Thai Owned Brand, Design Excellence or Demark, Best Service Provider, and One Tambon One Product Export Recognition.
The PM Award was launched in 1992 during the Anand Panyarachun government by the Commerce Ministry to increase the competitiveness of local manufacturers and exporters in the global market. The award aims to encourage exporters to upgrade the quality of their products and service.
Since then, 333 companies have won 407 PM Awards.
The Department of Export Promotion (DEP) said last week that the five best exporters are Piboonchai Maepranom Chilli Paste for exports under Bt100 million, TOA Paint (Thailand) for Bt100 million-Bt500 million, Srithai Superware for Bt500 million-Bt1 billion, Osotspa for Bt1 billion-Bt5 billion, and PTT Plc for greater than Bt5 billion a year.
Six exporters will receive a Thai-owned brand award. They are Giffarine Skyline Laboratory and Healthcare, Eastern Polypack, Shun Thai, a manufacturer and exporter of furniture, Monty and Totco, a manufacturer of processed Thai seasoning and paste, Piboonchai Maepranom Chilli Paste, and KM Stationary Industry.
The five best service providers are British International School Phuket, Bumrungrad Hospital, Bangkok International Dental Centre, Dr Orawan Holistic Institute, and V-Serve Logistics.
The 14 companies to receive 19 Demark awards are Newarriva, Aesthetic Studio, Innerroom, Yenn Design, Deesawat Industries, Textile Gallery, Move, Osisu, Prinn Collection, Bathroom Design, Cerebrum Design, Thai Ceramic, Harn Product, and Pranali Corp.
No enterprise will be awarded for OTOP export recognition this year.
Award winners are eligible to participate in the DEP's overseas marketing and exhibition project for three years. Under the project, companies are invited to display their products at the DEP's overseas exhibition rooms and will have a "Thailand's brand" label placed on their products, signifying the government's official endorsement.
