Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will visit China on September 4 to finalise details of the Thai-Chinese joint venture to invest in a high-speed train project in Thailand, said Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij.
The joint venture's shareholders will be state enterprises of these countries, including the State Railway of Thailand. While SRT's assets like rolling stocks, land and operating system would be appraised and translated into capital, the Chinese counterpart will bring in capital and technology.
The Finance Ministry is now studying the formation details, while the Transport Ministry on technical details, he said. In the initial stage, no private companies would hold shares in the venture.
