A drug-dealing suspect from Guinea was arrested with 850 grams of cocaine - worth about Bt3 million - in Bangkok's Ramkhamhaeng Soi 81/4, police said yesterday.
After an investigation into claims an African man was sell?ing drugs to other African tourists in the area, police apprehended Mamadouba Camara, 43, who entered Thailand from Hong Kong on August 10, Metropolitan Police chief Lt-General Santhan Chayanont told a press confer?ence.
The suspect reportedly con?fessed to smuggling the drug into Thailand by swallowing a package and later taking laxa?tives to retrieve it. The drug could then be sold for Bt3,000 per gram. Police will hunt for more drug "mules" and dealers aiming to sell drugs in Nana, Lumpini and Sukhumvit areas, Santhan said.
