Exim, JBIC in 'green' loan move

The Export-Import Bank of Thailand will extend cooperation with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation to "green" loan extension, aside from training, export credits and export-credit insurance, in order to promote trade and investment in Asia.

After discussion with JBIC president and CEO Hiroshi Watanabe, Exim Thailand chairman Naris Chaiyasut yesterday said the JBIC had highlighted the possibility of providing green credit to the Thai bank for relending to projects that boost economic growth and preserve the environment. The JBIC will also extend loans to promote Thai-Japanese trade and investment.

On September 29, the two banks will sign a reciprocal risk-participation agreement, as part of the master plan on insurance and reinsurance for members of the Asian Exim Banks Forum.
