Bombdisposal officials yesterday successfully defused a bomb in Yala's Yaha district.
Colonel Woradej Dejraksa, chief of the 14 th Task Force, yesterday said the bomb was hidden very close to the spot another bomb was found on Tuesday.
"The locals have alerted us about the bomb," the highranking military official revealed.
He said locals have given useful tipsoff to authorities. Based on this intelligence gathering, relevant units are now stepping up security measures
"We are told that armed insurgents are going to fan violence during Ramadan," Woradej said.
This year, Ramadan runs from this week to September 9. During the fasting period, Muslims will need to travel around in the evening and at night to perform religious rituals.
