Leading Telecommunications provider in Thailand chose FortiMail to protect its 25,000 employees and subscribers from spam
Fortinet (NASDAQ: FTNT) - a leading network security provider and worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions - today announced that CAT Telecom, a leading telecommunications provider in Thailand, has deployed its FortiMail-2000A™ multi-layered email security platform at the company's internet data center in Bangkok to protect the email accounts of its 25,000 employees and subscribers from spam and other malware. CAT Telecom chose Fortinet's security appliance for its performance, feature-richness and ease of management. The solution was deployed via Comnet, one of Fortinet's local partners in the country.
Replacing competitive solutions from Other mail, FortiMail's solution stands out with its transparent mode feature for email security. Other critical features provided by FortiMail include: on-box archiving, local sender reputation, dynamic heuristic rule updates, high availability configuration and grey listing. The deployment of three FortiMail-2000A appliances allowed CAT telecom to eliminate the issues of its previous relay mail server. That email solution was in fact low-performance, relatively weak in addressing spam emails, and took up a significant portion of the team's time in managing and monitoring threats daily.
"Fortinet's email security platform is easy to manage, giving us back more time to resolve email problems for customers and making the customer experience much smoother. The technology also provides us greater visibility into the root cause of each specific problem, thus providing us with greater speed and accuracy for troubleshooting," said Kamphol Boongsri, manager of Internet Service Center at CAT Telecom. "Fortinet FortiMail is a suitable choice in terms of cost and performance for any high intensity carrier-grade network."
With FortiMail, CAT Telecom also benefits from a lower total cost of ownership since there is no per user licensing fee associated with Fortinet's solution. The telecom provider subscribed to Fortinet's FortiGuard Antispam and Antivirus Subscription Services, which leverage Fortinet's reputation database and signatures to identify and block spam, phishing attempts, viruses, spyware and other email-borne threats and deliver automatic real-time updates to FortiMail appliances. The product advantages coupled with the excellence support service from Comnet made the deployment a success for CAT Telecom's IT department.
"As telco providers offer email services to their subscribers, they must guarantee the best levels of service and ensure spam-free communications. With FortiMail, they can control their email traffic down to the subscriber level, which is key," said George Chang, regional director for Fortinet Southeast Asia and Hong Kong. "With its high performance, flexibility and cost-effectiveness, FortiMail has made great inroads into the telco market and we are honored to add CAT Telecom to our customer list."
Designed for global enterprises and service providers who wish to provide mail domain protection, the FortiMail-2000B can process up to 1.0 million emails per hour with full antivirus and antispam filtering. It contains two Tera-Bytes of storage (user-upgradable to 6 TB) and supports hardware RAID storage. Its hot swappable/redundant power supplies and high-availability options ensure data integrity and reliability for high volume messaging systems.
