An Iranian man has been arrested in Bangkok's Asoke area allegedly with nine kilograms of 'ice' - crystal methamphetamine - worth Bt30 million for sale, police said yesterday.
They say the man also tried to bribe them with Bt2 million in cash.
Metropolitan Police chief Pol Lt General Santhan Chayanon said suspected ice dealer Soltan Mhammadi Reza, 32, operated in Thong Lo and Sukhumvit. He was arrested on Sunday outside the Grand Park View Condominium on Asoke Road.
Santhan said police staked out Reza's condominium after a tip-off and that the Iranian confessed that drugs found in a room at the condo were his.
Police claim Reza and three or four compatriots smuggled the 'ice' into the country, carrying 6-10kg each time.
Reza allegedly laid low at the condo while waiting to distribute the drugs to Iranian dealers in Bangkok. The arrest also extended to a search of Reza's rented room in Ploenchit, where police said they found more evidence of drug crimes.
