Olympic gold medallist Pawina Thongsuk will tie the knot with longtime boyfriend and Modern9 TV sports anchor Sares Limkungwarnmongkol in November in Bangkok.
The 31-year-old, who won the 75kg weightlifting gold at the 2004 Athens Games, first met former national fencer Sares during the 2002 Asian Games in Busan. But they didn't get the chance to talk until he interviewed her after the Olympics six years ago.
"I've fancied him since seeing his picture after 1997's SEA Games. Then he looked cool with long hair,'' said Pawina who also won the 2006 Doha Asian Games gold in the 63kg category where she set a world record of 142kg in the clean and jerk. She retired from action in 2007.
"He is kind and he gets along well with my family, especially my mother,'' added Pawina.
The happy couple announced the news yesterday. The pair was at Rajamangkala National Stadium for prewedding photos.
