Minebea Co will invest 34.8 billion yen (US$398 million) to set up two new factories and expand a third factory in Thailand.
The Tokyo-based maker of miniature bearings and motors announced the expansion in a statement to the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
According to the company's website, the ball bearing manufacturer operates 32 plants and 52 sales offices in 14 countries and employing approximately 44,000 people. Thailand is the company's largest production base.
Minebea's Thai plants, all of which utilise its unique vertically integrated manufacturing system, produce most of the Company's mainstay products, including ball bearings and small motors, and account for more than 50 per cent of total Minebea Group output.
