Bangkok Glass Industry's fifth bottle plant has boosted its annual capacity to 4 billion units and made it Asean's largest manufacturer of glass containers.
"The Ayutthaya plant has been designed and mapped out to become one of Bangkok Glass Industry's main production bases in the near future. The company also has plans to build other container and packaging facilities in the plant's surrounding area," executive director and president Surasak Decharin said yesterday.
The new plant, operated under Ayutthaya Glass Industry, can produce 40 million bottles per month. It occupies 276 rai of land 44 hectares and can churn out 320 tonnes per day from three production lines.
It can roll out at least 40 mil?lion to 43 million softdrink bottles per month, mainly nonreturnable versions for Boon Rawd Brewery Group.
The other four plants are in Pathum Thani, Rayong, Khon Kaen and Prachin Buri, with combined capacity of 2,470 tonnes per day. The new plant raises total capacity to 2,790 tonnes, equivalent to 4 billion bottles a year.
The company is also involved in the packaging field and other related businesses. Its subsidiaries include Bangkok Visypak, a corrugatedcarton maker; Petpak, Thailand's first plasticcontainer maker; and BG Pak, which makes plastic closures, crown closures and crates.
"We are and will always be doing everything we can to ensure that all the clients' container and packag¬ing needs will always be met at Bangkok Glass Industry," Surasak said.
