TNT is increasing its airfreight capacity between China and Europe to meet growing demand. Starting today, the company is scheduling an additional Boeing 747400 ERF aircraft between China and its European air hub in Liege, Belgium.
It will increase its service frequency to six flights per week from Shanghai and five flights per week from Hong Kong. TNT is responding to stronger demand in China for its air services, especially from hitech and fashion industries.
Chinese exports to Europe rose almost 50 per cent during the five first months of 2010 from a year before, according to the Chinese General Administration of Customs. During the same period, bilateral trade between China and the EU totalled $177 billion, an increase of 37.4 per cent over last year, confirming the EU's position as China's No1 trade partner.
BBL, KBank raise their rates
Bangkok Bank and Kasikornbank yesterday raised their deposit and lending rates.
Effective on Monday, BBL's fixeddeposit rates are raised 0.1250.5 of a percentage point while lending rates go up 0.125 of a percentage point. Its threemonth fixed rate is raised from 0.75 to 0.875 of a percentage point, while the new minimum lending rate will be 6 per cent.
At KBank, deposit rates are raised by 0.10 to 0.60 of a percentage point and lending rates by 0.05 to 0.15 of a percentage point, effective on Monday. The threemonth deposit rate is raised from 0.65 per cent to 0.75 per cent. The minimum lending rate is jacked up from 5.85 per cent to 6 per cent.
