Public Health Minister Jurin Laksanawisit yesterday presented a fourpoint strategy to tackle the impact of global warming on health at the "2nd Ministerial Regional Forum on Environment and Health in Southeast and East Asian Countries" held in South Korea's Jeju City.
The forum is attended by delegates from South Korea, Japan, China, Mongolia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand. Jurin said Thailand has implemented national environmental health strategy 1 after it was approved by the cabinet in 2009. The strategy - consisting of the issues of water pollution, global and regional air pollution, sanitation, and the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) - was integrated into the 10th National Economic and Social Development Plan, he said. Sanitation development included the "green and clean hospital" project to reduce greenhouse gas emission and promote recycling at 600 hospitals, and the "clean food good taste" project to improve fresh markets' sanitation, he added.
