Discussion held today on where to keep ballot cards


A meeting to discuss where to keep marked ballot cards for Bangkok Constituency MP by-election advance voting is scheduled today, Bangkok election director Pratuang Chomngam said yesterday.

Pratuang said the constituency's election commission planned to keep the marked ballot cards from the advance voting at the four district offices of the constituency, which are Khan Nayao, Klong Samwa, Bueng Kum and Nong Chok The ballot boxes would be secured 24-hours. However, Pheu Thai Party has requested the boxes be secured in police's detaining vehicles.

EC staffs, candidates and those involved in the by-election would also discuss problems before the by-election schedued the coming weekends. (July 17 and 18), he said.

Pratuang said that although the law states five per cent of the ballot cards for eligible votes to be prepared for the advance voting, the EC expected many voters would come to vote in advance as the by-election day on July 25 is a long-weekend and voters might go on vacation.
