No linkage between Democrat and Thammathipatai parties: Juti

Information and Communication Technology Minister Juti Krairiksh on Wednesday dismissed speculation about the linkage between the Democrats and the Thammathipatai Party.

The speculation on a back-up party for the Democrats came to light in the face to the court battle which could lead to the disbandment of the main coalition party.

Juti said although Thammathipatai leader Thanwa Krairiksh was one of his relatives, the two parties had no ties with one another.

"I believe Thammathipatai was formed in 2007 under different circumstances," he said/

He said the Democrats were confident to win a favourable verdict and that their party would stay intact, hence there was no justification for any contingency plans.

Thammathipatai came into existence before the disbandment of the Thai Rak Thai Party. Former deputy prime minister Somkid Jatusripitak reportedly backed the new party as a new home for Thai Rak Thai splinter groups.

The new party remained a shell since disbanded party members opted for People Power, Puea Pandin and other parties.
