One in three callers to the government campaign to gather public opinion on national reforms wished to talk about their debt problems and illegal money lending, according to PM's Office Minister Satit Wongnongtaey.
Satit said yesterday callers over money issues totalled 20,000 out of some 60,000 who made calls to the "Six Days and 63 Million Ideas: Moving Thailand Forward" campaign that ended on July 6.
He said further suggestions from the public could be sent through post and electronic mail while public hearings would continue to be held in different regions around the country.
According to Satit, the Ministry of Finance was considering another round of registration for people seeking government loans to repay debts obtained from illegal lenders. The ministry also would find state guarantors for debtors who could not find help with government loans.
He said that petitions and suggestions obtained during the campaign's period could be divided into seven problem groups: individual and family economy, social welfare, education, politics, reform, communication, and the environment.
