Bangkok Industrial Gas (BIG), a leading industrial gas provider in the Air Products and Chemical group of companies, has joined hands with Star Petroleum Refining (SPRC), a foremost petroleum refiner affiliated to the Chefron company, to implement the "Clean Fuel" initiative in an effort to raise its refining standard to meet the Euro IV requirements.
Piyabut Charuphen, managing director of Bangkok Industrial Gas Co Ltd, said this collaboration provides BIG the opportunity to showcase its expertise and leadership in hydrogen technology, which will play a crucial role in the programme that will be carried out.
The Euro 3 standard has been enforced in Thailand since 2005. For EURO 4, the National Environment Board has resolved that fuels and newly manufactured cars shall follow the EURO 4 standard with effect from January 1, 2012. The new standard will help reduce air pollution and will be in line with automotive manufacturing technology, leading to a new generation of vehicles in Thailand that release less pollution into the atmosphere while having a higher level of operating efficiency.
