Thailand will host the first trade show for the AsiaPacific Aquaculture business, in Bangkok early next year, to promote the industry in keeping with the rising demand for seafood and healthy foods globally.
The Aquatic Asia 2011 will be held at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Bang Na from March 9-11 together with VIV Asia 2011, the region's biggest event for the AsiaPacific milling indus¬tries.
"Demand for aquaculture products has seen a big rise in recent years amid rising concerns about health and food security," said Teerayuth Leelakajornkij, senior project manager of NEO Exhibition, organiser of the event.
"The industries involved with feed meal industries, machinery, and manufacturing are expected to grow by 18 per cent due to rising demand from trade visitors to the exhibition," Teerayuth said.
As Asia is the world's market leader in aquaculture, the exhibition will be a showcase of our efficiency, our innovation and technology for the feed industry, in particular aquaculture.
The Aquatic Asia exhibition will have retail space of 10,000 square metres. About 650 exhibitors from 10 countries in Asia will attend the event, which is expected to draw 7,500 trade visitors.
At the VIV Asia, more than 23,000 visitors are expected to join. NEO Exhibition has projected that the event will help generate a 10percent sales growth this year, from the Bt24.3 billion at the 2008 fair.
Theerayuth added that Thailand would also earn up to Bt1.57 million for every visitor who attended the trade exhibition.
Saovapak Kositkhun, managing director of Triumph Engineering, one of the exhibitors at the event and Thailand's leading manufacturer of feedmeal machinery, said this event will showcase the country's capacity for feed meal and food manufacturing to the world market.
This year's fair will highlight innovation and hightechnology adaptation in the feedmeal industry.
It will also emphasise on 'go green' industries, concentrating on energy savings and environmentfriendly technology to address rising concerns about climate change.
For instance, Triumph Engineering will be displaying its new innovative 'biomass machinery' that can use wood and palm pellets as power for driving the machine.
