The lighter side of the moon
With the Chinese lunar calendar winding its way towards the autumn, mooncake time has come round again. From Thursday until September 24, head to the Ambassador Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 11 and you’ll find 13 delicious flavours among them cream cheese, bale fruit and bale fruit with one egg yolk. All are available daily from 10am to 8pm at the booth in hotel’s lobby. The “Night of the Moon” falls on the 15th night of the eighth lunar month, which this year is September 22. Chinese-speaking communities offer the sweet pastry to the Moon Goddess to mark the mid-autumn festival.
