Thailand, Pakistan to boost tourism

Pakistan and Thailand would assist each other in the field of tourism as both the countries are blessed with immense natural beauty, rich archaeological and divers cultures, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

Thailand's ambassador to Pakistan, Maurut Jitpatima, called on Pakistan's Minister for Tourism Maulana Atta ur Rahman, and said Pakistan could attract a great number of tourists from FarEast countries to the many sacred sites for Buddhists - Taxila, Peshawar, Charsadda, Takht Bahi and Swat.

The two sides discussed ways and means to promote tourism between Pakistan and Thailand. - The Nation

Aegean in Star Alliance

Aegean Airlines has joined the Star Alliance network as its 28th member, at a ceremony in Athens on Wednesday.

Theodore Vassilakis, chairman of Aegean Airlines, said joining Star Alliance is an honour and a great opportunity for Aegean. "As of today, our customers will enjoy recognition, loyalty benŽefits and endonend global service that Star Alliance is renowned for. At the same time, there will be a 'star' on the map, showing that services and access to Greece have been sigŽnificantly upgraded".

Aegean Airlines completed the integration and systems upgrade process in a short 12 months, following its acceptance as future member in May 2009. - The Nation

ING gets coCEOs

ING Life announced that it has appointed Poolap Penkitti as chief operating officer, and Andrew Shaw, chief corporate partners, as acting coCEOs to replace current president and CEO Rajesh Sethi, who has decided not to renew his contract with ING Life Thailand. 

Poolap and Andrew will transiŽtion into the new role from July 1, and Rajesh will remain in the office until August 1 to facilitate the handover of his responsibiliŽties.  No material changes in ING Life Thailand's strategies or plans are anticipated as a result of this change in leadership. - The Nation

New fibre cement

The Thai Olympic FibreCement, a producer and distributor of fibre cement, is introducing  Shera Total Solution system under the 'Green Innotegration' concept and expects sales of Bt300 million by the end of this year.

The solution will speed up building residential projects by about 30 per cent and will help property developers cut their operation cost. The new system will focus on resiŽdential projects, the company's manager of fibre cement products, Madee Sriwattana, said. - The Nation
