Shin Corp has launched a "We've no Colour" in-house policy to demonstrate that it is not siding with any party, and is solely focusing on serving its customers.
Executive chairman Somprasong Boonyachai, who recently announced the campaign to members of staff, said the policy was also aimed at resolving "colour" problems among employees.
"I have told all employees to act according to this policy," he said, adding that this move was in line with the group's plan to avoid getting involved in politics.
He said Shin Corp felt neither happy nor sad with either side winning or losing. He added that nobody could be forbidden from accusing the group of taking sides, but Shin had the right to explain its stance.
Somprasong said the group was like a frog standing between two elephants - it had to jump out when the two pachyderms start clashing.
Shin Corp was founded by family members of ousted PM Thaksin Shinawatra, who sold their combined share of more than 49 per cent to Singapore's Temasek Holdings in 2006.
In February this year, Supreme Court judges ruled that Thaksin had used his authority as prime minister to benefit his telecom empire, including Shin, Advanced Info Service and Thaicom.
The Information and Communications Technology Ministry has given committees founded under the Section 22 of the Public-Private Joint Venture Act until July 7 to come up with ways of rectifying unlawful amendments of some telecom concessions, including that of Thaicom, by the state agencies in the past. The ministry owns the Thaicom concession.
Somprasong confirmed that Shin Corp had done its business in compliance with concession contracts and everything was done with the permission of state authorities.
Recently, the government said it was interested in buying back the Thaicom satellite operator from Temasek, citing national security concerns. Thaicom operates the Thaicom 2 and Thaicom 5 broadcasting satellites, as well as the iPSTAR broadband satellite.
Somprasong said Thaicom satellites are used for commercial purposes and not for spying.
