CI Group (CIG), a manufacturer of evaporator coil, condenser coil and chilled water coil for air conditioners and chillers, is collaborating with a new Chinese partner to develop a new airconditioning coil and will be responsible for its distribution in many countries worldwide.
CIG managing director Aree Poomsanoh yesterday said CIG would cooperate with Zhongshan OMS Industrial (OMS) in the "microchannel heat exchanger project" to develop and produce microchannel coil. CIG has also been appointed as the exclusive distributor for the new partnership, overseeing marketing in Asean countries, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Aree said OMS was one of the largest coil manufacturers for the automotive industry in China. Most of the production serves the domestic market. So it would be quite difficult for OMS to penetrate other countries.
CIG has a long experience, of more than 30 years, in coil manufacturing. OMS can learn from the company's experience. Moreover, it can benefit from CIG in penetrating export markets better than trying to do so by itself.
Microchannel heat exchanger project has developed an innovative coil that will be friendly to the environment. The new coil can replace conventional coil as it is light in weight, strong and good in releasing heat. The raw material is aluminium, which is cheaper than copper.
Aree said CIG expects to start commercial production of the new coil in the final quarter of this year or in early 2011. It expects the coil will increase CIG's sales by 20 per cent. It has already sent sample products to its big clients and expects to have their reactions soon.
