Introducing Happy Candy, the first Data Phone Kit which is chat, Facebook and Twitter-ready, to teenagers nationwide

Happy and Samsung become teenager-friendly partners as they introduce the Data Phone Kit comprising Samsung Candy phones and Happy Candy service which include chat and social network services. The Data Phone Kit debut unveils Service Integrated Featured Phones as it makes mobile phones, applications and services available in one package which is thus easy for people of the new generation to use. Chats and social networks are the highlights of Samsung's two popular mobile phone models - Samsung Candy Wi-Fi and Candy 3G - which enable customers to enjoy services on dtac's quality network right away and free of charge for 2 months. A 10-million-baht marketing campaign gets underway to reach the sale target of 60,000 Data Phone Kits.

Sitthichoke Nopchinabutr , Senior Marketing Manager for Telecommunication Business of Thai Samsung Electronics said "As a world-class mobile phone innovator, Samsung has been seriously developing the technologies for touchscreen mobile phones that meet the needs of all groups of consumers." "It focuses on introducing 'premium mass touchphones' to consumers in general so that it is easier for them to own such phones. The successful introduction of the unique 'Samsung Candy Family' touchphones featuring colorful bodies and comprehensive online community functions has proved that 'Samsung Candy Family' is playing important roles in enabling friends to chat via chat programs already installed in the handsets that truly make cyberspace and social network experiences possible to everyone.

To thank consumers for their great welcome, Samsung together with Happy by dtac , a giant mobile phone operator, unveil 'Happy Candy', an exclusive package in the 'Samsung Candy Family'. It is the pilot project to introduce a new and perfect internet package for online networking through Facebook, Twitter and instant messaging plus privileges. We do believe that consumers will enjoy chatting and surfing the net simultaneously via Samsung Candy mobile phones of many series. They can also communicate smoothly on the quality network of dtac ."

Pakorn Pannachet , senior product director of Total Access Communication PLC ( dtac ), says that the mobile phone penetration rate in Thailand is 102% (as of the first quarter of 2010) and the industry tends to focus on data services. dtac is highly capable of providing data services thanks to its quality network which supports Samsung's lifestyle mobile phones. Applications in Samsung Candy handsets run faster and thus are more enjoyable.

"This collaboration with Samsung brings about the Service Integrated Featured Phone strategy which refers to the introduction of mobile phones plus the user-friendly and ready-to-use data services in packages. We target people of the new generation who love social networking by introducing Happy Candy service package as well as Samsung Candy Wi-Fi and Candy 3G handsets and making them available in Phone Kits. Customers can use Facebook and Twitter and chat via Palringo and Google Talk right away and limitlessly for 2 months. We are confident that good handsets and quality data services can lead to better and more enjoyable relationships among groups of people. Importantly this will also promote our data services," Pakorn says.

Happy Candy Phone Kit is available in 2 choices: Candy 3G priced at 5,990 baht and Candy Wi-Fi at 4,990 baht. Each package includes Happy Candy service with a privilege to use Facebook, Twitter, Palringo and Google Talk free of charge for 2 months.
