Expanded Original HP high capacity Inkjet and LaserJet cartridges give customers up to 37%(1) cost savings
HP today announced key breakthroughs in its supplies portfolio that deliver greater energy savings, enhanced monochrome print quality, gloss and gamut improvements and significant cost savings. These value-added innovations will benefit customers in their race to get ahead while being assured of HP reliability.
The key highlights include:
• Original HP LaserJet print cartridges with energy efficient toner enables energy savings of up to 35%(2) on every page.
• New HP ColorSphere Toner for the new HP Color LaserJet 4525 printer delivers 40%(3) higher gloss and 158%(4) wider color gamut.
• New monochrome toner HP LaserJet CE278A increases the precision of toner placement and packs more technology into a smaller cartridge, allowing a smaller overall printer footprint which enables HP's smallest auto duplex laser printer - HP LaserJet P1606dn.
• New HP 60L Ink Cartridge delivers up to 33%(5) cost-per-page savings as well as a lower upfront purchasing price.
• New HP LaserJet Toner Dual Pack offering delivers up to 37%(1) in cost savings
• New HP Glossy Paper - HP's most affordable photo paper(6)
HP also announced the results of new third-party studies commissioned by HP that confirm the superior quality and reliability of original HP inks and toners versus refilled brands. A 2010 TÜV SÜD PSB study on original HP Inkjet cartridges versus refilled Inkjet cartridges found that Original HP Ink deliver twice the number of pages compared to refills and 42%(7) of refill ink cartridges fail. A separate new 2010 QualityLogic study on original HP LaserJet cartridges versus refilled LaserJet cartridges found that on average more than 60% of toner cartridges from refilled brands tested were found to be Dead on Arrival (DOA) or of Low Quality (LQ)(8). In addition, it also found that on average, sample pages from refilled toner cartridges tested exhibited over 7 times more issues with toner adhesion than HP.
Breakthrough Energy Savings Enabled by HP Spherical Monochrome Toner
Original HP LaserJet print cartridges with energy efficient toner enables energy savings of up to 35%(2) on every page. In particular, HP's patented spherical monochrome toner print cartridges increase the precision of the toner placement to deliver bold, crisp text, sharper images and energy savings, making it possible to produce HP's smallest LaserJet printers - like the HP LaserJet P1000 series and the HP LaserJet P1566/P1606 series.
The new HP monochrome toner, found in HP LaserJet CE278A (9) is the latest advancement in toner technology that enables consistently outstanding print quality and reliability. The more efficient toner formulation requires 15% less power to reach fusing temperature, resulting in up to 37% improvement in printing system energy consumption per page for the HP LaserJet P1566. The new monochrome toner HP LaserJet CE278A also increases the precision of toner placement and packs more technology into a smaller cartridge, allowing a smaller overall printer footprint which enables HP's smallest auto duplex laser printer - HP LaserJet P1606dn which sees a 26% reduction in size.
Improvements in ColorSphere Toner
The HP ColorSphere Toner designed for the new HP Color LaserJet 4525 printer delivers great photo quality prints on a variety of media with 40%(3) higher gloss and 158%(4) wider color gamut compared to previous HP color toners. With a broader range of colors, higher gloss, and improved photo resolution, the new ColorSphere toner delivers a noticeable difference in color intensity and photo quality as well as better text and image sharpness.
HP Easy Color
HP also introduced HP EasyColor advanced technology that improves print performance and print quality on its HP Color LaserJets. HP EasyColor optimizes color printing and improves print performance for image intensive documents, such as Microsoft® PowerPoint documents. It automatically selects optimal color treatment, enabling prints that best match the colors on screen. The EasyColor feature has been optimized based on the specific toner development properties of the ColorSphere toner to deliver these ease of use and performance features.
Greater Value with High Capacity Cartridges
To offer greater value for customers who print in high volume, HP introduced the XL Inkjet Cartridge in 2007, which was received with resounding success. In just three years, the number of 'XL' cartridges and multipacks sold in Asia Pacific has grown three-fold (as of 2009) (10).
Delivering greater value choices to customers, HP has expanded its Inkjet and LaserJet Print Cartridge portfolio to include the following cartridges that suit different consumer needs:
• The HP 60L Black & Tricolor Inkjet Print Cartridges print twice as many prints than the standard HP 60L cartridge and offers up to 33%(5) cost-per-page savings, with fewer cartridge changes. These new HP 'L' Inkjet Print Cartridges offer cost savings and high yields for customers who print in moderate to high-volume, while seeking a lower upfront purchasing price.
• The HP LaserJet Print Dual Pack options enable up to 37%(1) lower cost per page over standard cartridges. The HP LaserJet CC388AD, CB435AD, CB436AD and CE505XD dual packs promise professional, reliable and trouble-free printing.
Quality and Reliability with Original HP Supplies
Original HP Supplies offer SMBs better value by giving them higher yields, lower total costs and HP reliability. This is confirmed by research findings from two new third-party studies commissioned by HP that confirm the superior quality and reliability of Original HP inks and toners versus refilled brands.
The "Page Yield/Ink Cartridge Reliability Comparison Study for Asia(7)", conducted by leading technical test organization TÜV SÜD PSB, which concluded in January 2010, found that:
• Original HP Ink cartridges deliver twice the number of pages compared to refilled ink cartridges.
• 42% of refilled cartridges tested were found dead on arrival (DOA) or failed prematurely (23% were DOA and 19% failed prematurely).
The new "Reliability Comparison Study: HP LaserJet Toner Cartridges vs. Asia Pacific Refilled Cartridges(8)" conducted by independent tester QualityLogic Inc, which concluded in April 2010, found that:
• On average more than 60% of toner cartridges from refilled cartridges tested were found to be Dead on Arrival (DOA) or of Low Quality (LQ)(9). More than 60% of the pages produced by refilled print cartridges tested were of limited or no use.
• On average, the output of refilled toner cartridges tested compared to the average performance of Original HP LaserJet cartridges tested for three test patches (light grey, dark grey and black) were lighter.
• On average, sample pages from refilled toner cartridges tested exhibited over 7 times more issues with toner adhesion than HP. Toner adhesion highlights how much lighter the black patch becomes after performing the toner adhesion test (tape test). The tape test consisted of applying and removing 3M 600 adhesive tape to the black patch in a controlled manner.
