Halcyon ready to up production

Halcyon Technology, a manufacturer of tooling products for hard disk drives (HDD) and electronic parts, foresees its production capacity in the second half rising by 10 to 15 per cent compared to the first half of this year thanks mainly to the continuing demand for electronics.

The firm's managing director, Pete Rimchala, said the demand for HDDs and electronic parts in the second half was continuing to rise both locally and overseas, and is expected to show an even higher growth by the end of the year.

"We believe that the revenue in the second half will be higher than in first half. Output in the first half could not respond to the demand and many producers had to install additional machines to increase capacity. Therefore, revenue in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter, will rise in line with the HDD industry," he said.

Rimchala added that the company was also talking to its foreign partners about expanding in the future as well as negotiating joint venture possibilities with Asian partners. The deals should be completed within this month. He also noted that the company expected revenues of Bt350 million, a 50-per-cent growth compared to last year.

Exports account for 40 per cent of Halcyon's total revenue, while the rest is from local sales. The company has also conducted a feasibility study on current and new investments in order to strengthen the business and maintain sustainable growth.
