Two killed as van collides with train


Two passengers were killed and six injured yesterday after a van heading to a Dharma retreat crashed into a train.

The Bangkok-bound train No 280 had left Aranyaprathet in Sa Kaew and was passing a railroad crossing located 100 metres from Nongsung Railway Station.

The road leads to Nongsung village of Tambon Banna in Kabin Buri district.

The collision sent the van flying six metres down the road.

Boonthin Jullaphan, 57, and Pradub Sriraksa, 57, both from Prachin Buri, died in the accident while Khanchai Dejthong, 56, the driver, Yoon Laboonruang, Nopphawan Ngamna, 54, Khanthong Poth, 34, Vichien Kooddang, 55, and Chudaphorn Vijitko were taken to Kabin Buri Hospital.

Police said the travellers were going to Khao Kaeo Sadet Temple in Busieo village of Tambon Banna to practice Dharma.
