The Academia Italiana Fashion and Design Institute is now preparing to register itself as a college under Thailand's educational system.
Without the registration, the Office of Higher Education Commission (Ohec) has refused to certify the institute's degrees and has been mulling taking action against the institute.
The institute's manager Konggeng Prachakrit recently explained that his institute had already contacted Ohec to proceed with the registration.
"We plan to submit documents for registration late this month," he said.
Konggeng insisted that even without the registration, no students had been taken advantage of.
He said potential students had always been told in advance that the institute's undergraduate courses do not offer degrees recognised by Thai authorities.
"We have never withheld the information," Konggeng said.
Academia Italiana Fashion and Design Institute, so far, is now on the path to be officially registered as a higher-educational institute in Thailand. With an approval from Ohec, its degrees will be recognised in Thailand as well as many places around the world.
