New Asia dedicated financial database

eol Inc, a whollyowned subsidiary of Pronexus, has begun presales of eol Asia One, a database service for comparative analyses of financial data from various Asian countries, including Thailand later this year.

The company recognised that some Asian business researchers were not satisfied with existing global financial databases, because none is focused on Asia, plus the existing ones require users themselves to process and tabulate their own data in order to make comparisons among businesses in different countries.

This has led to the development of eol Asia One, a database with a builtin interface available in multiple languages, including Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean, the company said in a press release.

eol's previous efforts have included the development of eol DB, a financial database for companies listed on the Japanese stock market, It includes various search functions and enables comprehensive analyses of business information.

With the development of eol Asia One, the company is expanding the scope of potential users to include universities, research organisations, financial organisations and investors, both within Japan and abroad, who wish to review and analyse companies throughout Asia.

eol Asia One's unique characteristic is it is a business financial database dedicated to Asia, ultimately covering 12,500 Asian businesses in Japan and eight Asian regions.

As of April, 4,000 businesses in Japan and 6,000 in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea were entered.

By October, another 2,500 businesses in Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand will be entered.

The company also plans to increase the scope of the data and the range of businesses within Asia by 2012.
