An Iranian man was arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Sunday night for smuggling 4.6 kilograms of "ice" - crystal methamphetamine hydrochloride - worth about Bt18 million, a senior official said yesterday.
Head of the airport Customs Office, Ekkalarp Rattanarut, said after receiving a tip-off, officials found a bag of "ice" in the luggage of a 30-year-old Iranian called Karim Reza Goodarzi, who was on Emirates flight EK418 from Dubai, which landed in Bangkok at 9.30pm on Sunday.
After notifying the suspect that smuggling narcotics into Thailand was against the law, the officials confiscated the drugs and handed the man over to the Narcotic Suppression Police to take legal action.
