MCOT's board on Wednesday approved the agency's business expansion plans, including a pay-TV project, a telecom service, the opening of additional TV programming on the True Visions channel and a mobile TV service.
Chairman Surapon Nitikraipoj said MCOT has already started talking with some potential partners in the projects.
In March, CAT agreed on a communications and broadcasting convergence partnership with MCOT to provide MCOT's content on CAT's existing and upcoming telecom services, from the Internet to cellular.
MCOT will also increase the number of channels it is airing its own programming on True Visions by an additional eight channels from the present two.
It is expected to invest on developing eight additional channels this year out of the 19 channels it proposed to the board.
Surapon said MCOT is ready for the investment on all the projects.
MCOT president Tanawat Wansom said that it will also join with CAT to develop a service to air MCOT content on mobile-phone devices and on broadband network TV channels via CAT's telecom networks.
The foray into the new media will enable MCOT to achieve two-digit revenue growth this year, he added.
