His Majesty the King told eight ministers being sworn in yesterday to perform their duties honestly and for the benefit of the people and not to compete with each other out of self-interest.
"You must make a great effort to work for the country. Each of you must work with good intentions, honesty and sacrifice," His Majesty told the new ministers at Siriraj Hospital.
His Majesty said the ministers must help each other and not be rivals, in order to develop the Kingdom and move it forward.
"Working for the benefit of the entire country will be a bit difficult, but you must achieve this, because if you do, our country will advance," His Majesty said.
"If you intend to perform your duties, people will be happy, and you will be happy, too. If you work with good intentions, you can make a real contribution to the country as a whole."
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva led the eight newly appointed ministers being sworn in.
"I ask you to follow your words and concentrate on your work for the benefit of the country," His Majesty said.
