PM to attend economic forum in Vietnam

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva will attend the World Economic Forum on East Asia 2010 being held in Vietnam this weekend.

Government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn said yesterday that Abhisit would leave for Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday and return the same day.

Panitan explained that the premier would hold bilateral talks with Asean leaders, meet international CEOs and explain the country's political situation to the foreign press. He will also try and restore the international community's trust and confidence in Thailand, the spokesman said.

The forum, under the theme "Rethinking Asia's Leadership Role", is being held for the first time in Vietnam from June 6-7. More than 400 of Asia's leading decision-makers from business, government, academia and civil society from over 50 countries will be participating.
