Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has called an urgent meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban to iron out the details about the Cabinet line-up. The meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday's afternoon at Abhisit's offce at the Thai Khu Fah Building.
Suthep was seen leaving Government House this morning reportedly on the mission to mediate the rift between two coalition parties, Bhum Jai Thai and Puea Pandin.
The coalition has appeared to be in disarray after the Bhum Jai Thai Party issued an ultimatum on Wednesday demanding the departure of the Puea Pandin Party which cast censure votes against two Bhum Jai Thai ministers.
Although Puea Pandin leader Charnchai Chairungrueng played down the ultimatum, remaining upbeat to stay on the coalition bandwagon, Deputy Education Minister Narisara Chavaltanpipat urged the Democrats to shuffle out her party's cliques which strayed.
"I cast my vote of confidence and enjoy working with Bhum Jai Thai," she said.
Narisara said her Puea Pandin Party was not to be blamed for the strayed votes because it had four main factions, calling for punishment of rogue factions and not the party.
The four factions are Ban Rim Nam led by Suchart Tancharoen, Korat led by Pairoj Suwanchawee, Phya Nak led by Pinij Charusombat and Pak Nam led by Mun Pathanothai.
Narisara said she was from Ban Rim Nam. Party leader and Industry Minister Charnchai was from Phya Nakt faction. Information and Communication Technology Minister Ranongruk Suwanchawee was from Korat faction.
MPs from Korat and Phya Nak factions votes against the Bhum Jai Thai ministers.
Puea Pandin also has a splinter faction led by Pracha Phromnok, which is presently in a loose alliance with the opposition and can be brought into the coalition.
