Shrugging off the verbal barbs aimed at him for taking political sides, TV news anchorman Kanok Ratwongkul admits he's not impartial.
"I'm taking the right side," he assures Lips magazine. His reward for airing his opinions is frequent anonymous complaints by phone or in writing, often laced with abusive language. But life must go on.
"I still take taxis," Kanok says, "and sometimes the drivers are quite surprised to see me."
"How do you dare take a taxi?" one cabbie asked him.
What does bother him is that the phone calls always seem to reach him at home when his mum is around to answer. Rule #1, he instructs her, is "Never tell them you're my mum". Rule #2 is "Tell them I've moved."
Mothers have their own ways of dealing with things, however, and sometimes she asks what the caller wants to talk to him about. That's an invitation to vent, so Mum's heard it all by now.
Swing and a miss
Paradorn "Ball" Srichaphan, back in a sling again after breaking his serving arm in a motorcycle spill last month, has plenty more free time now. Wimbledon 2011 is a long way off.
But if you believe the gossip, his latest pastimes don't sound healthy for his marriage.
One rumour had him driving to Pattaya with a woman other than Natalie "Nong Fah" Glebova, his wife. Paradorn begs to clarify.
"First, my arm is broken, remember? I can't drive. Second, I went to Pattaya with a male friend - he drove. And third, the women in question was probably his girlfriend."
Natalie is the understanding type anyway, and Ball insists there are no rifts in their marriage.
However, he warns reporters, Nong Fah is going home to Canada for a two-week visit next month. "You'll see me around a lot, on my own," he says. "Now you know why I'm on my own."
