The Centre for Resolution of Emergency Situation announced on Thursday it will seal off the Rajprasong rally site where the red shirts protesters are gathered by blocking many roads starting at 6pm on Thursday as follows;
Phetchaburi Road from the Rajthevee Intersection to Phetchaburi Expressway toll gate
Wireless Road from Phetchaburi expressway toll gate to Wireless Road intersection with Rama IV Road and from the Wireless/Rama IV Road Intersection to Samyan Intersection and onwards to the Rajthevee Intersection
The movement of all traffic and transportation buses, Skytrain, the subway and boats inside the sealed areas would be totally prohibited. The protesters would still be allowed to leave the rally site but would not be allowed to reenter. Those who reside in the area would have to show documents to the security checkpoints proving that they reside or work in the areas, such as identity cards, household registration documents, staff identity cards.
The authorities had planned to start shutting off all infrastructure including electricity and water at 6pm, as well as banning movement of all traffic. However the cutting off of electricity and water are still on hold pending discussions with the relevant authorities.
The CRES will ask all business operations in the area to suspend the services until the situation returns to normal.
