Thai consumer confidence slumped to its lowest level in eight months due mainly to the severe political turbulence that led to violence last month.
A survey of 2,239 respondents nationwide by The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in March showed that the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) fell for the third consecutive month, from 77.3 points in March to 75 points in April.
Phongsak Assakul, vice chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, said that consumers had the highest concern about the political situation as it affected all activities in the Kingdom.
