The Cabinet yesterday allocated Bt10 million to Pattana Thai Foundation for the cost of organising a series of public hearings on social reforms as part of the reconciliation process.
The outcome of the hearings will form the basis for the drafting of a master plan for social reforms. At the national level, the reforms will seek to revamp the socio-economic structure to bridge the economic disparity. At the local level, the changes will address specific issues to meet the aspirations of local residents.
The Cabinet's weekly meeting returned to Government House for the first time in two months since the red shirts descended to rally in the capital.
The meeting took place amid tight security and only authorised personnel and vehicles were allowed to enter the seat of the government via the gate near Orathai Bridge. The Cabinet yesterday approved Bt30 million from the central fund for the Public Health Ministry to provide psychological relief to those affected by the recent political violence.
