Hua Hin is marked its centenary last year, and will continue the celebrations next month with the ninth edition of the popular Hua Hin Jazz Festival on the white sands of its pristine beach. Taking part are homegrown and international jazz bands. The festival usually draws thousands of visitors, who chill with live bands from 3pm to midnight. Other activities on offer include jazz workshops, local food stalls, product sales, games and lucky draws.

Sheets to the wind

Six Senses Phuket Raceweek, now in its seventh year, will return to the country’s best beach and sailing destination from July 10 to 25. The race marks the first regatta in the 2010/2011 Asia Yachting Grand Prix Championship. Lanna cultural rites

Chiang Mai celebrates the City Pillar Inthakin Festival at Wat Chedi Luang from Monday (May 10) to May 16. A celebration of peace and prosperity, this annual festival brings thousands of people from around the northern region to pay hom?age to the ancient city pillar and also features cultural shows and spiritual events. The ritual can be fairly primitive, with animal sacrifices, as well as gracious, with flower offerings to the Buddha. Wat Chedi Luang is in the heart of Chiang Mai Old Town.
