Former PM Chavalit Yongchaiyudh will wear his old Army uniform when reporting to the government's Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES) this morning, a close aide said yesterday.
"That will symbolise General Chavalit's loyalty to the monarchy and will prove that he is not part of a movement believed to be communist or terrorist," said Pheu Thai MP Paijit Sriworakhan, who once was Chavalit's colleague at the now-defunct New Aspiration Party.
Chavalit has been summoned by the CRES to explain his alleged role in connection with a network accused of posing threats to national security.
He said Chavalit, a retired general and former Army commander-in-chief, would appear at the 11th Infantry Regiment where CRES is based at 10am today.
The former premier, now chairman of the opposition Pheu Thai Party, will be accompanied by a group of party MPs and his former military aides, Paijit added.
